Becoming more like Jesus through our Relationships

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.  For He chose us…. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His [children].” (Ephesians 1:3-5)

For all those parents out there or anyone finding themselves in a challenging relationship… There are times that no matter what you do or what you say children (or whoever else) will choose to be DIFFICULT . You love them, support them, buy them gifts and they’re STILL difficult.

One day I was just overwhelmed and it seemed like the devil was just using my kids to get under my skin. A lot of stuff was so out of character for them I was thrown for a complete LOOP. Then I had this revelation…that’s exactly how God feels with His children. That’s how He feels about US! No matter what He does for us we at times throw Him for a loop!

Hosea comes to mind when I think about this love God has for us.

So beautifully told here:

Author Jennifer Rothschild tells the remarkable love story of Hosea, a story that belongs to everyone because of God’s love.

and several books of the Old Testament where God delivered His people up out of Egypt. He was disappointed delivering swift discipline to those who turned against Him and He was constantly reaffirming His love over and over. Exhausting stuff! Can you imagine performing miracle after miracle and your children STILL doubt you?!

So through parenting and any other relationship we are constantly tried, and as we exercise patience and forgiveness we are becoming more and more like Jesus. .
